Environmental Development Center
The Environmental Development Center (CDA) is a hub of conservation and environmental education efforts, dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Cerrado biome. Through its diverse programs, the CDA focuses on the research, management, and propagation of native plant and animal species, helping to safeguard the region’s biodiversity. It also provides shelter, care, and rehabilitation for rescued wildlife, aiming to reintegrate them into their natural habitats. Additionally, the center collaborates with local environmental organizations to support the preservation of endangered species, playing a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the Cerrado.
Refauna Project
With valuable support from CBMM, professors and researchers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ), and the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) collaborate to rescue and reintroduce native animals into the Cerrado, with a special focus on the tapir. Since December 2017, the Refauna Project has successfully reintroduced 3 tapirs — one female and two males — into the Guapiaçu Ecological Reserve in Rio de Janeiro.
Cerrado Scientists
Launched in 1992 by CBMM and local educators, this project aims to foster individuals engaged in environmental issues, promoting the preservation and conservation of natural resources. Students are trained through workshops covering topics such as Cerrado wildlife, Niobium, sustainable development, and medicinal plants. Since its inception, over 73,500 participants have taken part in Environmental Education activities.
Renascer Project
In collaboration with CBMM, the Senhor Jesus Farm in Araxá plays a key role in the rehabilitation of individuals recovering from substance dependency. Through the planting and cultivation of seedlings from native flora species, which are generously donated to local farmers, this initiative not only supports individual recovery but also contributes to the preservation of water sources and riparian forests.
Campos Altos State Park
The Campos Altos State Park, covering a 784-hectare reserve located 100 km from Araxá, has become a popular destination for local schools, offering nature excursions, Environmental Education lessons, and research opportunities on the rich flora and fauna of the Cerrado, with support from CBMM.
Sustainable Water Conservation
One of our core environmental goals is to optimize water use in our production processes. We continually invest in this commitment, achieving significant results: currently, 96% of all water used in our production is recycled.
We do this and much more
Our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond a single effort
We believe responsibility takes many forms, which is why our initiatives cover a broad range of actions. We focus on investing in projects that strengthen communities and empower stakeholders, fostering autonomy and leadership for all.
