Environmental Policy
The sustainable growth of the Niobium market is directly tied to responsible environmental management. Our commitment is to operate safely, continuously improving environmental performance, conserving biodiversity, preventing impacts and encouraging scientific research. We act based on technical studies, in compliance with applicable legal requirements, and by adopting technologies and practices that promote continuous improvement of environmental performance, aligned with international best practices and the Sustainable Development Goals. We promote the protection of natural habitats and native species and develop ecological restoration and land recovery initiatives. We invest in environmental education, research and innovation, and in engaging employees, partners and communities, strengthening a culture of sustainability.
We continuously monitor environmental indicators and promote transparency in communicating our results. In this way, we reinforce our commitment to biodiversity conservation, the sustainable use of natural resources and value creation for present and future generations.
Priority for what already belongs to the Cerrado
We prioritize species adapted to local conditions for forest restoration projects, as well as the rescue and conservation of wildlife in the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes. From genetic diversity to the entire ecosystem
Conservation of genetic diversity, preservation of natural habitats and strengthening of the ecological interactions that sustain the ecosystem.
Partnerships with national and international teaching and research institutions, with academic production of scientific papers.
Environmental education developed with the community, bringing the population closer to the importance of wildlife and its habitats.
Integration of technical knowledge, research and environmental education, with a firm commitment to animal welfare.
Examples in Practice
Want to understand CBMM's real impact on environmental conservation? See what the Environmental Development Center has been doing in practice, every day, for decades, through the Conservation Breeding Center, the Cerrado Scientists program and the Seedling Nursery.40 years of wildlife management
More than 2,400 animals of 102 species have been received and managed, with more than 1,400 births recorded and more than 240 animals sent to wildlife conservation institutions and projects, in partnership with national and international institutions. How the breeding center creates value:
• Conservation and management of native species
• Support for scientific research applied to wildlife
• Strengthening of biodiversity conservation programs
• Sharing of technical knowledge with partner institutions
• Contribution to the preservation of threatened species
Environmental education for the community
More than 80,000 students in Araxá/MG have taken part in the program, which encourages sustainable attitudes and develops multipliers of environmental conservation in the community. How the program creates value::
• Expands environmental knowledge among children and teenagers
• Encourages sustainable attitudes and environmental citizenship
• Promotes appreciation of local biodiversity
• Helps develop conservation multipliers
We contribute to the conservation of thousands of hectares of natural areas through the continuous production of native species seedlings, supporting ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation and the strengthening of the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes. The nursery plays a strategic role in ecosystem recovery, in protecting native flora and in promoting environmental benefits for present and future generations.
How the nursery creates value:
• Forest restoration with native species adapted to local ecosystems
• Conservation and reintroduction of native epiphytes
• Promotion of more resilient and biodiverse landscapes
• Support for environmental education and awareness programs
• Strengthening of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biome conservation
Our commitment to contributing to environmental protection
CBMM acts preventively and responsibly, managing its environmental risks and impacts to promote increasingly sustainable operations.01 - ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE SYSTEM
ISO 14001Management framework aligned with ISO 14001, certified since 1997, with planning, monitoring and continuous improvement of environmental performance.
We identify environmental risks, assess potential impacts, implement preventive measures and promote continuous improvement of our controls.
03 - ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
Continuous environmental monitoringMonitoring of wildlife, surface water and groundwater, air quality, noise and vibration, with management based on indicators and efficient use of water in production processes.
04 - LEGAL AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Legal complianceWe meet legal requirements and maintain processes that ensure environmental compliance, with periodic monitoring of adherence to obligations.
